Programme Structure

In the first year of the Master of Pharmacy in Pharmacology program, students build a solid foundation through courses such as Human Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmaceutics, Medicinal Biochemistry, and Pharmaceutical Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. Additionally, Remedial Mathematics and Biology are offered to strengthen essential skills, ensuring students are well-prepared for advanced studies in pharmacology.

In the second year of the Master of Pharmacy in Pharmacology program, students explore advanced topics such as Pathophysiology, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Pharmacognosy and Phytopharmaceuticals, and Pharmacology-I. The curriculum also includes Pharmacotherapeutics-I and Community Pharmacy, providing essential knowledge and practical skills to effectively address therapeutic challenges and enhance community health outcomes in pharmacological practice.

In the third year of the Master of Pharmacy in Pharmacology program, students deepen their understanding through courses such as Pharmacology-II, Pharmaceutical Analysis, and Medicinal Chemistry. The curriculum also covers Pharmacotherapeutics-II and Pharmaceutical Formulations, equipping students with the skills necessary to assess drug efficacy and safety, while navigating the legal frameworks governing pharmaceutical practices.

In the fourth year of the Master of Pharmacy in Pharmacology program, students explore advanced topics such as Pharmacotherapeutics-III, Clinical Pharmacy, and Hospital Pharmacy. Courses in Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics, along with Clinical Toxicology, enhance their understanding of drug interactions and therapeutic applications, while Biostatistics & Research Methodology equip them with essential research skills for effective clinical practice.

In the fifth year of the Master of Pharmacy in Pharmacology program, students engage in Clinical Research and Pharmacoepidemiology & Pharmacoeconomics, providing insight into medication safety and effectiveness. They also study Clinical Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacotherapeutic Drug Monitoring. A six-month Clerkship allows for hands-on experience in a clinical setting, culminating in a comprehensive Project Work that showcases their research capabilities.

In the final semester, students undergo an intensive Internship, immersing themselves in clinical pharmacy practice. This phase includes rotations in various specialty units, allowing them to provide comprehensive pharmacy services. Students are expected to manage a minimum of eight patient cases weekly, following each from admission to discharge. This hands-on experience prepares graduates for independent practice in diverse healthcare settings.
