Programme Structure

In the first semester of the B.SC Data Analytics, students explore foundational concepts through core theory and practical coursework. Core subjects include Mathematics, Fundamentals of Computer and IT, and Problem-Solving Using C. Practical labs focus on Desktop Publishing, C programming, and IT fundamentals. Additionally, the Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course covers English and Human Values, while Mentoring and Professional Development foster personal and professional growth. This semester equips students with essential skills and knowledge to support their future studies in computer applications.

In the second semester, students will deepen their understanding of key concepts in data analytics through core theory and practical courses. The core theory subjects include Probability and Statistics, Database Management Systems, and Object Oriented Programming using C++. Practical skills will be developed in the accompanying laboratories: Object Oriented Programming using C++ Laboratory, Probability and Statistics Laboratory, and Database Management Systems Laboratory. Additionally, students will engage in the Environmental Studies Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course, complemented by Mentoring and Professional Development sessions to support their overall growth and skill enhancement. 

In the third semester, students will explore essential topics in data analytics through core theory and practical courses. The core theory subjects include Operating Systems, Data Warehouse and Mining, and Data Structures. Students will enhance their practical skills in the Operating Systems Laboratory, Data Warehouse and Mining Laboratory, and Data Structures Laboratory. Additionally, a Skill Enhancement Course in Programming in Python and its laboratory component will further develop programming skills. Students will also participate in Mentoring and Professional Development sessions to support their personal and professional growth.

In the fourth semester, students delve into advanced topics in data analytics. The core theory subjects include Data Visualization, Big Data Analytics, Digital Marketing, and R Programming. These courses equip students with the skills to analyse and interpret complex data sets, develop effective marketing strategies, and utilise programming for statistical analysis. Complementing the theoretical knowledge, students will engage in practical applications through the Data Visualization Laboratory and Digital Marketing Laboratory, where they can apply their learning in real-world scenarios and gain hands-on experience in these critical areas of study. 

In the fifth semester, students focus on enhancing their technical and analytical skills through various courses. The Skill Enhancement Course includes Web Designing and its associated Web Designing Lab, allowing students to create engaging web applications. Elective options provide a broader perspective, including Business Intelligence, Distributed Databases, Computer Networks, Web Analytics, and AI, alongside a practical Business Intelligence Lab for hands-on experience. This semester is designed to equip students with essential skills and knowledge to thrive in the rapidly evolving field of data analytics while also focusing on Mentoring and Professional Development.

The sixth-semester centres on advanced skills and practical applications in data analytics. The Skill Enhancement Course features the Advanced Web Technologies Laboratory, where students deepen their web development expertise. Electives include cutting-edge topics such as Cloud Computing, the Internet of Things, Machine Learning, and Data Preparation and Analysis, complemented by the Recommender Systems Laboratory for practical experience in developing recommendation systems. Additionally, students undertake a Major Project that allows them to apply their learning to real-world challenges while also focusing on Mentoring and Professional Development to prepare for their future careers.
