The Pharm.D is a 6-year professional doctoral degree designed to train students as advanced clinical pharmacists. Focused on patient-centered care and clinical decision-making, the program covers drug therapy, pharmacotherapeutics, pharmacokinetics, medication management, and patient counseling, along with extensive clinical rotations in hospitals and community pharmacies. Pharm.D graduates work as clinical pharmacists in hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities, managing medications, monitoring drug reactions, educating patients, and optimizing therapies. Pharm.D programs are approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), ensuring they meet the standards required for pharmacist registration in India. The Pharm.D program equips students to become highly skilled clinical pharmacists, improving patient outcomes through safe and effective medication use.

The first year establishes a robust foundation in pharmaceutical sciences, featuring essential courses such as Human Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmacognosy. Students also explore Pharmaceutical Microbiology, which highlights the critical role of microorganisms in health and disease. This comprehensive curriculum is designed to prepare students for advanced studies and future careers in the pharmaceutical field.
Building on foundational knowledge, the second year delves into advanced topics such as Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence, and Pharmaceutical Engineering. Through engaging laboratory sessions and community interactions in Pharmacy Practice, students develop essential skills that prepare them for successful careers in the pharmaceutical industry.
The third year concentrates on clinical pharmacy aspects, offering courses in Clinical Pharmacy, Therapeutics, Pharmaceutical Analysis, and Hospital Pharmacy. This curriculum is designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice, providing students with hands-on training in hospital settings. This experiential learning emphasises the application of knowledge in real-world scenarios, preparing students for impactful careers in clinical pharmacy and patient care.
In the fourth year, students explore advanced clinical applications through subjects such as Biostatistics and Research Methodology, Clinical Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacotherapeutics, and Drug Monitoring and Evaluation. This pivotal year enhances students’ understanding of the practical implications of pharmacy within clinical settings, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively contribute to patient care and healthcare outcomes.
The fifth year is primarily focused on Internship Training across diverse healthcare environments. During this pivotal year, students rotate through key departments, including General Medicine, Pediatrics, and Surgery, where they apply their academic knowledge to real-world clinical scenarios. This hands-on experience not only enhances their practical skills but also prepares them for effective contributions to the healthcare team and patient care.
The final year emphasises the completion of Internship Training and the Research Project. Students engage in rigorous research, culminating in the presentation of their findings, while also fulfilling any outstanding practical requirements. This comprehensive approach ensures that graduates are fully equipped for professional practice, ready to contribute effectively to the pharmacy field and address the challenges of modern healthcare.
