The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nursing is a comprehensive 4-year undergraduate program designed to prepare students for a rewarding career in healthcare. The curriculum blends theoretical knowledge with practical training, covering subjects like anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and nursing care. Semester 1 will build the basic foundation for the students opting nursing as a career. The syllabus includes Communicative English that will strengthen the communication skills. Applied Anatomy and Applied Physiology will focus on the basic functioning of the human body. Applied Sociology will be insightful in examining human health and Applied Psychology will help to unveil psychological aspects of patients. Apart from these, Nursing Foundation 1 will also be a part of the curriculum which will include First Aid.
In this semester we will venture deeper by studying about Applied Biochemistry to explore the relevance of biochemicals in health. Applied Nutrition and Dietetics will establish the knowledge for managing diseases, and the patient recovery process. Health/ Nursing Informatics and Technology will guide the students towards the use of technology in medical care. Nursing Foundation 2 will focus on health assessment.
The curriculum of Semester 3 will include central aspects of nursing. Applied Microbiology and Infection Control including Safety will teach the students about infections and their preventions. Pharmacology 1 will lay down the foundation of drugs and their usages. Pathology 1 will cover diseases and their effects and finally Adult Health Nursing 1 with Integrated Pathophysiology develops an understanding of diseases and health conditions.
Semester 4 will help students in becoming professionals by imparting them with advanced clinical practices and knowledge. Pharmacology 2 includes advanced drug therapy and their application. Pathology 2 and Genetics on disease mechanisms and importance of genetics in our system. Adult health nursing 2 with integrated pathophysiology sheds light on the management of complexities in adults. Lastly, Professionalism, Professional Values and Ethics covers the various areas of ethics in nursing
Semester 5 brings an enriched curriculum that will expand the key nursing domains. Child Health Nursing 1 addresses child-specific healthcare, while Mental Health Nursing 1 introduces core principles of mental health care. Community Health Nursing 1 (including Environmental Science & Epidemiology) focuses on environmental science and epidemiology, preparing students for broader community roles. Educational Technology/ Nursing Education explores modern tools for effective teaching and learning. Finally, Introduction to Forensic Nursing and Indian Laws connects healthcare with essential legal knowledge, providing a well-rounded skill set for diverse nursing paths.
In Semester 6, students develop essential skills for specialized nursing. Child Health Nursing 2 focuses on meeting children’s unique needs and supporting families. Mental Health Nursing 2 will define how to care for those facing psychological challenges. Nursing Management and Leadership builds skills in leading teams, using resources wisely, and driving positive change. Midwifery/ Obstetrics & Gynecology 1 covers women’s health, pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care, offering students to learn about compassion and caregiving to mothers and babies.
In Semester 7, students focus on broader aspects of nursing. Community Health Nursing 2 teaches them how to improve health in communities, working with families and groups to promote wellness and prevent disease. Nursing Research and Statistics introduces the basics of research, helping students analyze data to improve healthcare practices. Continuing with Midwifery/ Obstetrics & Gynecology 2 students deepen their understanding of women’s health and advanced care for pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum.
Semester 8 will be the beginning of students’ Internship, an immersive practice where they gain hands-on experience in real healthcare environments. Through Residency Posting, they have the opportunity to apply their skills directly with patients, refine their clinical abilities, and build confidence as they step into professional nursing. This intensive training prepares them to deliver high-quality care and thrive in their future roles as healthcare providers.
